My friends, today is a very special day. I cannot tell you happy we are that we can finally announce… CONGRATS AGATHA AND DAIZY MAE!!!!!!
These two senior chis hold the record for longest time in our program (for healthy dogs). The girls would have been with us for a YEAR next month.
We want to give a special thanks to foster parents, Tom and Moira, who opened their hearts and homes to the girls for so many months while we found this amazing family.
Their new mom is an amazing furparent, and she even supported us by being a vendor at our festival!
We simply could not be happier!!
These sisters have been together all their lives, and now, they’ll get to be together for the rest of them! Happy, happy, happy ending!

Dear Princess Pesto, my sweet girl…

I don’t know why a family hasn’t snatched you up. Is it because of the horrid condition in which you came to us? You’ve healed so beautifully, but to me, we’ve always found you to be special. Is it the curse of being a black dog, the least adopted of all dogs in the country? Is it that you are a true *mixed breed* pup? I don’t know, my darling girl. What IDO know, is that you are worthy. You have an exceptional foster mommy who has loved you and snuggled you, even when your skin was literally falling off in chunks. Even when you smelled terrible. Even when you were contagious. Why? Because we knew you were worthy. When families pass you over for more purebred looking dog, even when you are more dog and kid social than them, remember that you are worthy. Pesto, my dear, no matter how long it takes for someone to see you the way we see you, you. are. worthy.

There is a home for you. One whose heart wasn’t whole until they laid eyes on you. One that had no idea how much you would change their lives. One who will look past your history of neglect and see you for what you are…

Meet Loke or Teddy; You Decide

Look at the beautiful dog we found underneath all that matted fur!

This precious boy had severe dental disease and had to lose all the bottom incisors. They pointed out at a 45 degree angle, and cause his bottom lip to be permanently droopy. BUT! You know us… we just think it makes him even more special and unique.

This little guy is healthy, happy, fully vetted, potty trained, and is SUPER smart and loves to snuggle….just the coolest little dud ever!

He is great with small children and other dogs, he loves, loves, loves to play ball. He needs his own little boy or girl to throw the ball so he can retrieve it and bring it back.

Good news first! He only has a slight heart murmur, is heartworm negative, doesn’t have microfilaria, and his ears, nose, and fecal looked great. His front teeth are beautifully clean! His bloodwork showed all his levels were great, so we are crazy happy about that! Harvey is incredibly sweet, likes to get around and sniff and explore, and does fine with dogs and cats of all sizes.

Bad news: While his front teeth were pretty, his molars were atrocious. They were black, rotted, and had a foul stench that would make you sick. It is IMPERATIVE that he has a dental surgery TODAY. They are so bad that they CANNOT wait. It is the greatest risk to his health hands down.** He is prepping for surgery now, and the surgery will cost around $250 if you can call in a gift towards his care today at 979-778-1144. This is on top of the diagnostics we have done and meds we put him on. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ** He has pretty bad cataracts, so he only has peripheral vision, but it doesn’t slow him down much at all. So, his teeth can be helped and poor vision is just the inevitable part of aging. He does walk stiff, but it appears to be hip related arthritis, so we put him on a low dose of Rimadyl and joint supplements to give him relief. Already today, he is getting around MUCH better!! Finally, he has a small seizure yesterday, but he has been fine since.

So, all in all, we are pleased with where he stands! Most of his issues are expected at 15 years old, so we are not deterred. Most of his issues can be fixed, or at least eased with meds, so he is definitely adoptable! His teeth MUST get help today, but otherwise, he is now fully vetted and ready for his very own retirement home.

Harvey needs a special home. A home that loves seeing a frosty face. A home that wants a snuggle baby. A home that allows him to get up a little slower in the mornings until he has had his meds. But, above all, a home that is ready to be overwhelmed with the love, gratitude, and joy that ONLY a senior dog can give. Can your heart take that much love?

The Candy Family is finally here! Mama Sugar Baby had her three puppies the day before coming to a Dallas are kill shelter. She was fear biting and was in full on “mama bear” mode by lunging, barking, and biting. Now that the puppies are weaned at five weeks old, she is super sweet and eager for human affection. We love the dog she has become!! She and the three babies are officially up for adoption! (Though the pups cannot leave until they are 8 weeks old). Email [email protected] for more info!
