Gwendolyn and Daniel Inocencio founded Long Way Home Animal Sanctuary in the early Nineties and formally became a 501(c)3 in June of 2010. All the residents of the Sanctuary were deemed unadoptable — either because of behavioral or medical issues. Over the years over 100 fur babies have come through the Sanctuary — some for only a few months, others for many years. All are loved and cared for for whatever length of time we have them.
Danny is one of the co-founders of Long Way Home. He has been a firefighter for over 32 years and will be retiring in 2016. Danny got his start in animal rescue when he purchased a cat named Alex before he "knew any better." Danny enjoys playing golf, tennis, basketball, and bowls in one or two tournaments a month.
Gwendolyn is one of the co-founders of Long Way Home. Gwendolyn taught school - French and English -- for seven years and is currently enrolled in graduate school at Texas A&M. Gwendolyn enjoys reading, shopping and learning new things -- and adores anything Hello Kitty.
Paula got her start with Long Way Home as a foster for Long Way Home Adoptables. Over the years she fostered seven fur babies and adopted her last foster Gizmo who is pictured with her. As Gizmo needed some extra attention that did not allow fostering, Paula looked for other ways to become involved with Long Way Home and came on board with the Sanctuary to help with the upkeep of the blog and the Facebook page. Paula very much misses fostering and will hope to be able to return to that in the foreseeable future.
